Girls Swimming Success

The Long Beach Girls’ Varsity Swim team are conference champions for the second year in a row. Lead by the dynamic duo of Maggie Aroesty and Kristen Romano, the girls swim team this year has been unstoppable. The girls had a great start to their season not losing a single match and it only got better after they defeated their huge rival: Garden City. The girls crushed the team defeating them for the second year in a row. The girls also crushed the number one team in their division, Bellmore/Merrick, the following week after. The girls finished up their last conference meet on October 18th against Manhasset. The girls dominated the pool and remained undefeated for the second year in a row. As the meet unfolded all 18 of the seniors on the team started to get emotional as this was their senior meet. At the divisions meet on October 27th the girls secured another win to their belt. The girls hope to secure first place in counties for the first time in almost 16 years.

Most people often focus on the swimming portion of the Swim and Dive team. They often forget to recognize the hard-working divers. Diving plays an important role in these meets as it can be the turning point for the meet. This year the Long Beach Girls’ Dive Team Consists of five divers: Madison Murray, Carly Siegel, Briana Moore, Mia Radin and Dakota Ejnes. In the senior meet, Dakota scored her highest score of a 8/8.5 during one of her last dives as a Long Beach Marine.

Good luck to all the seniors of the Girls’ Varsity Swim and Dive team of 2016 in your future endeavors whether it be in or out of the pool.
