The Long Beach Girls Varsity Swim Team will be sending four swimmers to the state championship meet this November. This prestigious scholastic swim meet will be held at Ithaca College the 21st-22nd of November. The relay team consisting of sophomore: Margaret Aroesty, junior: Morgan Harrington, sophomore: Caroline Farrell and eighth grader: Kaley Skarren qualified for the meet with a time of 3:42.01 in the 400 yard freestyle relay on Saturday at the Long Beach Invitational.
“I am excited to be swimming at states with my teammates,” says Farrell. “I hope to place high with the relay, and I am so happy to be swimming at such a fast and competitive meet.”
Harington also added that she is, “looking forward to competing with some of the top female swimmers from across the state and have a great time with all of the other Section 8 swimmers.”
Aroesty will also be swimming the 200 yard individual medley and will be looking to defend her state title in the 100 yard breaststroke, which earned her All-American honors last year.
“I am looking forward to swimming fast, but also having fun at States this year,” states Aroesty.
The girls will also be competing in the County Championships this weekend. Long Beach High School is very proud to have such elite athletes at our school and wish all the girls the best of luck at both the State and County Championships.
